Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery is conveniently located just off the A414 & B195 in Cole Green. The nursery is set in beautiful countryside in a superb, large purpose built barn conversion. The outstanding rural location at Munns Farm is part of the Hatfield House Estate and has the benefit of being covered by the Estate's routine patrols.

Unique amongst local nurseries, Monkey Puzzle Cole Green, is equipped with an environmentally friendly ground sourced heating system, which provides all of the heating and hot water the nursery needs. This dramatically reduces the carbon emissions from the building and also provides child friendly under floor heating to minimise the risks associated with conventional radiators and to ensure an even, cosy temperature throughout.

Babies, Tweenies, Toddlers and Pre School all benefit from their own large, dedicated, well equipped rooms as the barn offers over 4000 square feet of accommodation. Each of the four outside play areas are equipped with the latest impact resistant surface to ensure peace of mind when inevitable tumbles occur.

The drop-off area is both large and secure being off the public road and at the end of a long private drive. An entrance corridor even provides protection from the elements during inclement weather.

When settling in new children some parents or guardians prefer not to leave the site immediately particularly during the first day or so. We fully recognise this and are pleased to offer a separate parents area where, over a coffee, parents or guardians are very welcome to wait whilst their children settle.

Facilities

The Nursery is split into four main areas:

· Babies

Non mobile babies benefit from a large open plan day room, well equipped with the latest in sensory equipment to stimulate the babies senses during their formative months. The dedicated sleep room has space for up to twelve babies. In addition the babies have their own dedicated changing facilities and their own outside area.

· Tweenies

The Tweenies room focuses on the needs of more mobile babies. Again, very well appointed with outstanding levels of equipment, the Tweenies room follows the 'birth to three matters' framework, encouraging learning through play. There is a cosy area, where 'Tweenies' are read stories, a sand and water play area, a construction area to develop coordination and a messy area for painting. The Tweenies also benefit from having their own nappy changing facilities.

· Toddlers

Toddlers, aged up to three years old, still follow the 'birth to three matters' framework so the focus is still on learning through play. The large Toddler room has creative areas, a reading corner, circle time area and a home corner. As this is also the time when the majority of children start 'potty training', the toddler room is equipped with brightly decorated children's toilets, encouraging independence. Toddlers also benefit from their own well equipped outside play area fitted with impact flooring.

· Pre School

Pre School children follow the 'foundation stage' preparing them for their eventual move to school. This is a more structured routine, with children working in groups and becoming accustomed to paying attention for longer periods of time while undertaking monthly topics, based on the six areas of learning: physical development, personal, social and emotional development, language and literacy, creative development, knowledge and understanding of the world and mathematics. Pre School have their own easily accessible, brightly decorated children's toilets and well equipped outside play area.

Our opening hours are 7.30am - 6.30pm and parents or guardians are welcome to drop off or collect between these times whenever they like, completely free of any further fees or charges.

Our fees are inclusive of branded quality nappies, wipes (and creams if required), although parents are welcome to supply their own brands if preferred.
