Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery is conveniently located in Chesham Old Town, within the grounds of Thomas Hardy School. The nursery is set in a newly converted building with facilities for children aged from three months to five years. There are four well equipped, areas for Babies, Teenies, Toddlers and Pre School. Both outside play areas are equipped with the latest impact resistant floor surface to ensure peace of mind when the inevitable tumbles occur.

Monkey Puzzle serve only free range and organic (where possible) meals to the children and all food is freshly prepared on site. Monkey Puzzle is conveniently located close to Chesham Train Station and the opening hours are designed to appeal to Commuters.

Facilities

The Nursery is split into four age groups:

· Babies

Our non-mobile babies benefit from a large open plan day room which is well equipped with the latest equipment to stimulate the babies senses during their formative months. A separate dedicated sleep room has space for up to nine babies and each baby will have their own mattress, to ensure the highest levels of hygiene. In addition the babies will have their own dedicated changing facilities and their own outside play area.

· Teenies

The teenies room focuses on the needs of more mobile babies. Again, a dedicated well appointed room with outstanding levels of equipment is provided for the teenies to follow the 'birth to three matters' framework which encourages learning through play. Within their room there are several areas including a cosy area where teenies are read stories, a sand and water play area, a soft block area for the children to develop their climbing skills, a construction area to develop coordination and a 'messy area' for painting.

· Toddlers

Toddlers, aged up to three years old, still follow the 'birth to three matters' framework so the focus is still on learning through play. The large toddler room has creative areas, a reading corner, circle time area and a home corner. As this is also the time when the majority of children start potty training, the toddler room is equipped with brightly decorated childrens' toilets, encouraging independence. Toddlers also benefit from their own well equipped outside play area fitted with impact flooring.

· Pre Schoolers

Pre School children follow the 'foundation stage' preparing them for their eventual move to school. This is a far more structured routine, with children working in groups and becoming accustomed to paying attention for longer periods of time. Topics covered are based on the following six areas of learning: physical development, personal, social and emotional development, language and literacy, creative development, knowledge and understanding of the world and mathematics. Pre-Schoolers have their own easily accessible, brightly decorated children's toilets and well a equipped outside play area.
